Tottenham Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Spurs supporters who booed keeper Vicario were told later "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by manager Frank.

Tottenham let in a pair of scores in the opening six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their tenth Premier League home loss of the year.

But the main topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away the ball far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the sideline.

However, rather than booting it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six yards.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario once more, some Tottenham supporters jeered him.

Spurs were jeered off at half-time, with the club 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

A particular of those jeering episodes really angered Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our fans reportedly jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my view is completely unacceptable," the Danish manager stated about the supporters' response to his shot-stopper.

"[They] cannot be true Tottenham supporters that do that. Fair enough booing following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind one another going forward."

Tete had given Fulham a early lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period performance.

Ex- Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the second score was "completely preventable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper continued. "I am aware the part Vicario is performing. He is a excellent team player, he is a real leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.

"The keeper was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive score."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Match

Italian international Vicario is in his 3rd campaign with Spurs.

He said following the game that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a mistake of my own, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. It was an even bigger mountain to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he added. "We can't be affected by the situation in the stands. The fans have the right to do what they think.

"It is on us to remain more calm, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was not an simple score for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the next most distant Premier League goal of the season – after Adams' 43.3 yard goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which incidentally too came on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

Ten seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his area and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds following the kick.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the area for ages," he said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them defended the net, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a little extra time. Then it was all about attempting to make the correct connection and place it towards goal. I had a good sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Go Against You'

Jeering While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's error led headlines, this was an all-round poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

This was their tenth at home loss of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and 2003.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club Brentford and champions the Reds to come before the end of the year.

Only one of those wins have occurred since the manager replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer.

"When you're down 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to overcome," stated the boss.

"When you're in a bad spell, everything appears to work against you as well – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a mistake from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Each fixture has a unique story, today we lost in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and with luck something we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two shots on target per match in the division – their lowest averages on record in a one campaign (dating back to 2003-04).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the stick," Murphy said. "He has accepted a prestigious role at a major team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.

"The performances at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to get better {quickly|
